William Boxley Parrott '56

Voted Best Athlete by his senior class, Mr. Parrott won the respect of the EHS community both on and off the field. Captain of the football team his senior year and alternate captain his junior year, he was a three-year starter and led the team in tackles his junior (97 tackles) and senior years (85 tackles). He was selected to the All-Prep Team his junior year and was recognized as All-Metro, All-Prep, and All-State his senior year. The Washington Post named Mr. Parrott the Schoolboy Player of the Year for Football in 1955. He served as co-captain of the wrestling team his senior year and was undefeated, and he won the prestigious Metro Tournament as a heavyweight his junior and senior years. In track and field, he won the Virginia State Shot Put Championship his senior year.
Off the field, Mr. Parrott was elected to the Honor Committee and served as a Monitor. He played on the freshman football and wrestling teams at the University of Virginia.
