Howard Marcellus Holley, Jr. '87

As tri-captain of the varsity football team, captain of the varsity basketball team, and an outstanding centerfielder on the varsity baseball team, Mr. Holley completed a record-setting and award-winning athletic career at EHS. In football, he was named All-IAC his sophomore and junior years and Honorable Mention All-IAC his senior year. He blocked a field goal attempt with two minutes to go in the Landon game his junior year, which gave EHS its first IAC Championship. His talent on the basketball court led to School records for free throw accuracy, most points scored in a single game, and most points scored in a season. Mr. Holley led the team to an IAC Championship and St. Stephen’s Tournament championship. He was selected as All-IAC in basketball his junior and senior years and All-Met and All-American his senior year. He won the William Caskie Watts Award for basketball his senior year and was selected as the All-IAC centerfielder in baseball his senior year.
After EHS, Mr. Holley played basketball at Lowell College and helped his team win the Division II Men’s National Championship. He transferred to Howard University and was named Conference Most Valuable Player and led his team to a Division I Tournament berth.
