Varsity Golf Beats Georgetown Prep

Yesterday the team had a rough day at the IAC tournament, battling the rain, wind and a tough course at Worthington Manor in Urbana. We finished in last place. It was wet, cold, and demoralizing, as our scores were higher than many teams we had already beaten this year.

However, in a testament to this team's resilience and competitive drive, we came roaring back today as we upset Georgetown Prep in a tightly contested match at Belle Haven. Sophomores Cole Wise and Paul Pivirotto teed off first. Pivirotto shot 38 and Wise 39! They went toe-to-toe with Prep's top two players and emerged down only two shots from the foursome. The second pairing included All IAC "At Large" recipient Robert Clark '17 and David Jones '17, and the third group included George Moore '18 and Christian Wright '18. Clark shot 37 (earning co-medalist honors along with Prep's Nick Foster) and Jones 43 (vs. a pair of 41s for Prep) leaving the match all square after two groups.

It would all come down to the final foursome. Moore sealed the win for Episcopal, firing a 41 to Prep's low of 43.
