With no warm-up and coming off of a big loss on Saturday, the Maroon stepped onto the field a bit hesitant for the ever eager Holton-Arms team. Slowly, they woke up their feet and supportive play, but not in time to prevent a goal with 8:30 to go in the first half. It was a beautiful shot hitting the far right of the goal.
Defense played an amazing game where their slant was slowly being polished and girls are seeing the benefit of the right diagonal and channeling the attack out. They are starting to work together in their positioning and passes instead of trying to force it through.
Once again Pierson Gammage '20, Missy Brandt '20, and Sofia Podjenski '20 and Doris Li '18 all did an amazing job on defense. Gardiner McGuire '19 had four incredible saves and her clears are strong and becoming transitions out from the circle.
Lindsey Veatch '20 is debuting at center forward, Charlotte Breckenridge '20 had a wonderful time in play with her speed and defensive positioning to be the energy needed to get the girls to create offensive plays and to take control.
An amazing goal with 3:44 seconds left in the second half tied the game and we took back over offensive play. The goal was a strong shot from Gammage making it all the way up from defense and a finish by Bea Campagna '20.
Thanks to the entire team for continuing to learn and push themselves to develop over the season.
