EHS Hosts Spanish Exchange Students

A group of 12 students and two faculty chaperones from our partner school in Seville, Spain arrived on campus earlier this month to spend two weeks living on campus, attending classes, and getting to know EHS.

This exchange is part of the Episcopal Spanish Exchange Program with the Center for Cross-Cultural Study, and has been a longstanding tradition at the School. The Spanish students lived on dorm with their EHS host students and attended classes together. In addition to spending time on campus, the group also toured many museums, landmarks, and historical sites in the Washington D.C. area to learn about American history and culture. In the past, EHS students have traveled to Seville during the summer to live and study at our partner school with their Spanish exchange partners.

Catherine Gomez-Goodnow, EHS Spanish teacher and Spanish Exchange Program organizer, stated, “It is an understatement to say the group had a wonderful experience during their two week stay here at Episcopal. Moreover, both the chaperones and Spanish "intercambios" wish to express their profound thanks to the entire community for extending such a warm welcome to the group. They are most appreciative of everything that was done to make their visit here so special and memorable. Most importantly, new friendships were forged, not only among the terrific group of 12 Episcopal students who volunteered to host, but also among other students in the community, who reached out and befriended the Spanish students.”
