This year’s inductees were selected by the society’s current members and the chairs of Episcopal’s academic departments based on their academic achievements and strength of character. Current members of the Cum Laude Society Tate-Louisa Mikkelsen '16 and Isabelle Zabriskie '16 participated in the ceremony by providing the invocation and statement of purpose, respectively. Mary Fielder, assistant head for academics and Cum Laude Society member, announced the 2016 inductees. Together, Headmaster Rob Hershey and Fielder inducted the 23 members into Episcopal’s chapter of the society. Hershey then introduced the ceremony’s speaker, Dr. Will Thomas '82, professor in humanities and professor of history at the University of Nebraska. Cum Laude Society member Max Smith '16 provided the benediction for the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the new members and their families enjoyed a reception in front of Ainslie Arts Center.
