Young EHS Team Loses Tight Match

By Coach Hank Harris

The boys’ tennis team took on a very solid Georgetown Prep team last Thursday, April 22, on the Shuford Courts and fell one match short of a victory.

The Maroon squad has mostly new faces this season, but our No. 1 player, Thomas Peacock '22, is still holding strong at his position, followed by our lone senior Max Wriedt '21 at No. 2, Claude Morris '23 at No. 3, and Giuseppe Cecchi '22 at No. #4 rounding out the singles positions. Cecchi pulled through with a very strong performance to give us our lone singles victory. Peacock played an amazing match against a high-level opponent and came up just short.

In doubles play, Evan Davis '23 and Stuart Knops '23 came through with a win at No. 1 doubles, while our freshman duo of Shaan Vyas '24 and Dillon Boszhardt '24 came back from being three games down to take their No. 3 match. Jack Bruns '23 and Brooks Whitmer '23 came ever so close at No. 2 doubles but couldn’t quite close it out.

All in all, it was a tight, well-played match, and it was great to be competing again. Nice job, boys' tennis!
