Celebrations of Class of 2020 Begin

Seniors attended their last classes on Friday, May 1, and begin their May Program on Wednesday, May 6. The School will formally honor the Class of 2020 during the Senior Send-Off on May 30 and at in-person commencement exercises on campus at a later time. But celebrations have begun already.

  • Nearly a dozen parents led by Heather Allen (Carson and Katherine), Isabel Lummis (Virginia), and Ashley Miller (Sunny) engineered a surprise for the seniors: yard signs congratulating the Class of 2020. Seniors began receiving the signs on Friday, and more should arrive this week. Thanks to these committed and creative parents.

  • The Special Senior Day Community Meeting on Friday featured another surprise: a heartfelt, if goofy, video of the faculty singing "I'll Be There for You," the theme song from the "Friends" television show. Brent Erstad, EHS director of choral music, directed and produced the video, assembling dozens of individual videos shot by the socially distancing faculty. To close the Community Meeting, the Rev. Betsy Gonzalez, our head chaplain, offered a moving blessing for the seniors.

  • Art teacher Junko Pinkowski designed special graphics that the EHS community can post on social media or use as cover or profile photos to show solidarity with the seniors. Download them from the EHS website.
