Girls Track & Field Compete at New Balance Nationals

This year, Episcopal sent its first qualifying female team to the New Balance Nationals at Armory Track in New York City.
In February, the girls sprint medley relay team of Nina Moore '20 (200-meters), Caroline Panton '21 (200-meters), Jahsaiah Moses '19 (400-meters) and Alli Boehm '20 (800-meters) had a strong race on Cathcart Track in Flippin Fieldhouse, running a new School record (4:14.15) and qualifying to compete in the Championship division, the highest division you can qualify for at the New Balance Nationals.

Due to a small injury that occurred later in the season, Panton had a very capable replacement in sophomore Janil Cohen '21, who has had a breakout season in her first full year of competition.

This was the first national-level competition for this particular group of girls, and they held their own. Moore led off the team with her patented strong and steady leg, handing off to Cohen. Cohen in turn handed off to veteran senior Jahsaiah Moses who ran another scintillating leg in the 400-meters tying her best time over the two-lap distance. Moses turned it over to Boehm, who ran smart and calculated in the first lap and then started picking off runners in the final two laps to run her all-time fastest split over 800-meters indoors or outdoors—bringing the team home in a new school record, and knocking three seconds off the team’s previous best time.
