Finally back on their own court, EHS took to the gym in the Hershey Athletic Center and welcomed their first crosstown rival of the week, Bishop Ireton.
Last season, BI knocked the Maroon out of the first round of the state tournament, winning the hard-fought match 3-0. While EHS beat the Cardinals earlier in the season in a best 3 of 2 match during the Fredericksburg tournament, both teams knew that more weeks of practice and healthy players back on the court meant stronger teams on both sides of the net. The Maroon didn't hesitate once the first whistle blew, flying out of the gates and swiftly putting the Cardinals against the ropes in game 1. The offense was clicking, and the defense kept the ball off the ground. Episcopal's strong serving game, served up 15 aces over the course of the match. Playing nearly a perfect third game, Episcopal only had nine service and hitting errors, so the Cardinals were unable to truly get in the game. With their strong team play, the girls were able to put away the match quickly and handily.
