Saints Claim Victory over Maroon

As Mid-Winter Break began for the students at Episcopal, the boys' varsity basketball team made the short drive across Seminary Road to play the St. Stephen's and St. Agnes Saints.
This was the third meeting between these two teams this season, and the Maroon were victorious in both of the previous contests. The old adage that is it difficult to beat a team three times in one season proved to be true for EHS on this evening, as the Saints marched away with the win.

St. Stephen's raced out to an early 8-0 lead in the first quarter as turnovers plagued the Maroon. EHS settled in to the game for the remainder of the period, and after eight minutes of play Episcopal trailed by a score of 17-10. The Maroon played much better basketball in the second quarter, and they were able to cut the lead to six points at the half; 30-24. The final 16 minutes was a game of runs for both teams. Episcopal was able to cut the Saints lead to one point on two different occasions, but St. Stephen's would answer with an offensive burst of their own that would push the lead back to double-digits. Each time Episcopal closed the gap, the Saints had the answer. The Episcopal team played with great effort, but on this night St. Stephen's was the better team. The Saints defeated the Maroon by a score of 64-53.

Episcopal's record now stands at 13-6, 3-3 in the IAC.
