Boys Varsity Basketball Defeats St. Stephen's & St. Agnes

The Episcopal boys' varsity basketball team opened up conference play with a victory over visiting St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School on Tuesday evening.
The Maroon had a strong first quarter on both ends of the floor to build a 19-12 lead. St. Stephen's used a half-court trap in the second period which slowed down the offensive attack for EHS. The Saints were able to capitalize on a few transition opportunities on offense just before the half, and at the break Episcopal led 29-25. In the second half, EHS took the momentum back and the team was able to score against the Saints' zone, forcing them to switch back to a man-to-man defense. On the other end of the floor, the Maroon transitioned to their point-zone defense, and it forced St. Stephen's to take some shots from distance that just weren't falling. In the final quarter, everything went well for Episcopal, and the team built a twenty point lead. The Maroon were able to hold off a late run by the Saints, and Episcopal won the game by a final score of 66-49. EHS is now 12-1 overall, 1-0 in the I.A.C.
