The Maroon Varsity Football team travelled to Baltimore, Maryland to play a very talented Gilman team.
Gilman caught EHS off guard and scored the first 17 points of the game. While EHS turned the ball over 7 times, the team showed great heart and stuck together to beat a very talented Gilman team 21-17.
The offense was led by Quarterback Emmett Morehead '21, who completed 11 passes for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jamall Mensah '20 caught 3 passes for 48 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Juanell Walker '19 was a beast on both sides of the ball playing middle linebacker and running back. He rushed for a total of 89 yards, on 12 attempts, including a crucial 57-yard touchdown. Episcopal's defense was led by senior captains Litchfield Ajavon '19 and Salim Turner-Muhammad '19 who were on the field for 79 plays of defense.
The Maroon defense proved to be one of the best in the area to hold Gilman’s offense multiple times in the red zone. Paul Pivirotto '19 was perfect on extra points going 3 for 3. He also punted and was tasked with kicking the ball off including one vital kickoff through the end zone late in the game for a touchback. The team is now 1-0.
