Episcopal Track & Field Performs Against Top Competition

The boys and girls track and field teams took their talents off campus this past saturday and headed to the Southern Maryland Track & Field Classic held at the Prince George’s Sports Complex located next door to FedEx field in Maryland.    The competition brought together some of the top programs in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC.
Leading the way with an incredible 3rd place finish in the 800-meters was Alli Boehm ‘20 who ran a very savvy race in just her second attempt at this distance. Litchfield Ajavon ‘19, with little training at this point in the season over the hurdles, managed to make it through the prelims and the semi-finals to advance to the Finals of one of the largest meets in the area, where he finished a respectable 6th place showing incredible early season form.  Freshman phenom Zeddy Williams ‘21 ran a superb race running wire to wire in 1st place to record the 7th best time of of the day in the 800-meters.

Boehm was not the only one to have a special day with number of personal record performances on the afternoon. Jahsaiah Moses ‘19 got the team off to a solid start with an all time best in the 300-meters. Paige Hathaway ‘18 is on a mission this season and notched her first personal best of the season in the 500-meter event. James Dixon ‘19 was next up and in his second meet of the year and first at 500-meter distance this season, he took a full second off his best time from 2017.

Jack Lee '20, Sam Kamara '19, Jamall Mensah '20 and Salim Turner-Muhammad '19 represented The Maroon in strong fashion racking up some tough competitive experience for the rest of the season.

Elijah Gaines '20,  Lee, Mensah, and Turner-Muhammad had a solid race in the 4 x 200-meter relay. Gaines, Dixon, Williams and Ben Lee '20 put in strong performances in the 4 x 400-meter race as well. Top relay finish on the day was the Girls 4 x 400-meters who finished a strong 6th in the highly competitive meet. Claire Boehm '20 opened up with the strongest leg, followed by Hathaway, freshman Regan Simmons '21 and senior Bijee Jackson '18.
