Girls Varsity Volleyball Struggles in Flint Hill Invitational
After a long, full week of school, EHS arrived at Flint Hill with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, but the team struggled to maintain a high level of focus and intensity throughout the long afternoon of pool play.
EHS competed on Friday night at the Flint Hill Invitational against several top Division II state teams, including 2016 D II state champion Middleburg Academy. The tournament set up had the Maroon playing a challenging best 2-of-3 matches at 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm.
EHS played their best match against Trinity Christian, a Division II team from neighboring Fairfax. Even though they dropped the match 1-2, the team played the best they have all season. With solid passing, strong offense and lots of enthusiasm, EHS showed they could hang with some of the best teams in the state. A valiant effort in the third game fell short, and EHS ultimately lost the match.
