While at EHS Cameron was a member of the Choir, Glee Club, Varsity
Football, Varsity Track, E club, Hop committee chair, Whispers, Egypt, Study
Detention Hall, Walking Demerits, and did not get kicked out. He also knew
the way to the Blue Mirror in the District. He loved his time and his friends at
the Hill. It was a life changing experience for him (and maybe the school).
Cameron was a spiritual director, studied for ministry and was ordained.
He has been a community volunteer along with a professional career as an
attorney.
He had extensive experience in the Cursillo movement and served as well
as national President of Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. He served
as a volunteer Chaplain at Moses Cone Hospital and helped establish a day
center for the homeless.
He served on the Board of Affordable Housing Management and as
Chair, (a provider of low to moderate income housing), Jericho House (a
prisoner halfway house), and the Preservation Greensboro Development
Fund (an organization saving homes with historic value).
He attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where he was a member of
the Vestry.
He served in many capacities in the community, among them two terms
as a City Councilman, the Board of Hospice at Greensboro, the War
Memorial Coliseum Commission as chair, the Greensboro Day School
Board as chair, the Greensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau as chair,
The Interactive Resource Center (a day center for assisting the homeless)
and Urban Ministry. He was Chairman of the Steering Committee that
developed a future Comprehensive Land Use Plan for the City of
Greensboro. He was also a member of the Greensboro Business League an
organization of black businessmen.
You can see what EHS started. If he just had extra money, who knows
what was possible.
He was a retired attorney and certified mediator. He attended the
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and received degrees in Business
and Law.
Cameron was married to Ann Ritter and had three children and ten perfect
grandchildren.
