Lou Canelli

Lou joins Episcopal High School after nine years at Culver Academics in Indiana, where he taught humanities, coached soccer and speech, and served as Teaching Fellows Coordinator. Prior to Culver, he taught English, coached soccer and basketball, and served as a dorm parent at Putney School in Vermont and Saint James School in Maryland. Lou holds a B.A. in English from Boston College and an M.S. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.

Lou teaches four sections of English, coaches winter and spring track, serves on the Berkeley dorm team, and advises upperclassmen. He and his wife, Dee Dee, along with their son, Declan, live on Berkeley dorm.

Annie Carroll

Annie joins Episcopal High School after serving as the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for the Marquette University women’s lacrosse program. Prior to her time at Marquette, she served in a similar role at the University of California, Davis. Annie holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Connecticut, where she played four years of Division I lacrosse and led the team to NCAA tournament appearances, and a Master of Education from Temple University.

At EHS, Annie serves as an associate director of admissions, the head coach for the girls lacrosse team, and a 9th grade girls’ advisor. She also serves on a dorm team and lives on campus.

Dee Dee Dolan

Dee Dee arrives at Episcopal High School after six years at Culver Academics in Indiana, where she served as a Senior Instructor in the Department of Leadership Education. Prior to her time at Culver, Dee Dee worked in higher education at the University of Notre Dame as both an instructor in the College of First Year Studies and an assistant director for undergraduate career services. She began her career on Capitol Hill and at a Washington, D.C. think tank. While she has served in diverse educational and advisory capacities throughout her career, it is her passion for student mentorship and leadership development that guides her work.

Dee Dee teaches advanced American Studies and a leadership theory elective. Drawing on her academic background — including a B.A. from Wake Forest University and an M.A. in Higher Education Administration from Georgetown University — she strives to thoughtfully engage students in critical thinking and personal growth. Dee Dee, her husband, and their young son Declan live on dorm in Berkeley, and she serves alongside Lou as an advisor to upperclassmen.

Cabell Doswell

Cabell returned to Episcopal High School after four years away from the faculty, during which she earned her M.T. in Special Education from the University of Virginia and began her career as a learning specialist. She spent the last three years serving in that capacity at Flint Hill School.

Cabell serves as a learning specialist in the Academic Support Center, where she also works as an evening study hall procotor. She and her husband, Peter, live in Arlington.

María Esparza Rodriguez

Spanish Teacher

María joins Episcopal High School after 12 years as an instructor and assistant professor in the Department of Spanish, Italian & Portuguese at the University of Virginia. During her time at UVA, she taught all levels of undergraduate Spanish, instructed courses in Latin American Studies, and co-founded the student-centered publication La Uva Magazine. She holds a double B.A. in Psychology and Spanish and an M.A. in Latin Amercian and Iberian Studies from the University of Delaware, and a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.

María teaches four sections of Spanish, serves as dorm parent, advises The Chronicle, and co-advises freshman boys. Having lived on the campus of the Blue Ridge School for the past three years, she is experienced in the boarding school environment. María and her husband, Matthew Richey, live in the apartment on the second floor of McAllister.

Zach Matthews

Zach arrived at Episcopal High School after six years at Bedford High School in New Hampshire, where he served as the head football coach and sophomore health and wellness teacher, and earned the Dennise Maslakowski Outstanding Educator Award in 2021. Prior to his time at Bedford, Zach taught and coached at other schools in New Hampshire and coached at the collegiate level at Utica College.

Zach serves as the head football coach and assistant athletic director. He and his wife, Jacqueline, have three children — Olivia and Bennett, who are in college, and Finley in seventh grade. The Matthews family lives on campus.

Christy Monroy Bravo

Science Teacher
Head Coach, Girls’ Varsity Soccer

Christy arrived at Episcopal High School after serving as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer team at George Mason University and coaching for several Alexandria Soccer Association club teams. Prior to her career in collegiate coaching, Christy worked as a systems engineer and consultant for companies in the Washington, D.C., area. She holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Rutgers University.

Christy teaches two sections of 9th grade physics and serves as the head varsity girls' soccer coach. She and her husband live in Bethesda.

Victoria Ortiz

Dance Teacher

Vicky joins EHS from the Dance Academy of Virginia in McLean, where she served as a teacher and the community engagement coordinator for the last three years. Prior to that, Vicky taught dance in New York City with Ballet Hispanico, a summer dance program for children and teenagers. Vicky will teach Survey of Dance and instruct our afternoon dance program. She lives in Northern Virginia.

Jasmine Prime

Jasmine joins Episcopal High School after two years at St. George’s School in Rhode Island, where she served as a Building Bridges Teaching Fellow in the humanities department, a dorm parent, an advisor, and an extracurricular assistant. She holds a B.A. in English with a minor in Secondary Education from Howard University.

Jasmine teaches four sections of English, serves as a 9th grade girls’ advisor, works as a dorm parent, and advises the Daemon literary magazine. She will also serve as the assistant girls' JV basketball coach and live on campus.

Matthew Richey

Matthew joins Episcopal High School after three years at Blue Ridge School, where he served as the Spanish department chair, a Spanish teacher, a soccer coach, an advisor, and a dorm parent. Prior to his career in education, Matthew worked as a professional chef. He holds a B.A. in Spanish, a B.S. in Marketing, an M.A. in Spanish from Virginia Tech, and a Ph.D. in Spanish language and literature from the University of Virginia.

At EHS, Matthew teaches four sections of Spanish, assists with two seasons of sports media, serves as a dorm parent, and co-advises freshman boys with his wife, María. Matthew and María lives in the apartment on the second floor of McAllister.

Audrey Sisel

Audrey, a native of Alexandria, joins Episcopal High School after completing her Ph.D. in American history at the University of Edinburgh, where she also served as an undergraduate teaching assistant. She holds a B.A. in history from Creighton University, where she was a member of the crew team.

At EHS, Audrey serves as a one-year sabbatical replacement, teaching four sections of social studies. She is also coaching two seasons of crew.

Katy Varga-Wells

English Teacher

Katy joined Episcopal High School after teaching English and coaching varsity crew at the Derryfield School in New Hampshire. Prior to her time at Derryfield, Katy taught English, coached crew, and served as a dorm head at Brewster Academy, Kent School, and the Frederick Gunn School. She holds a B.A. in English from Connecticut College and an M.A.T. from Columbia University, and is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Curriculum Design at the University of Virginia.

At EHS, Katy teaches four sections of English, coaches two seasons of crew, and serves as an upperclassman advisor. She is also the dorm head of Dalrymple, where she, her husband, Connor, and their puppy, Buckeye, live.

Sean Wetmore

Director of the McCain-Ravenel Center for Intellectual and Moral Courage

Sean joined Episcopal after 30 years at Norfolk Academy, where he taught, coached, and developed a student leadership program. In 2024, he left Norfolk Academy to establish Introships, an internship and career development program for college students.

At EHS, Sean serves as the Director of the McCain-Ravenel Center, teaches one section of 9th grade social studies, and works as a campus supervisor. He and his wife, Jeni, moved from Virginia Beach to Alexandria over the summer.

Megan Black

Director of Annual Giving

Megan joins Episcopal after a decade of fundraising experience across higher education institutions, including William & Mary, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the University of Virginia, and Georgetown University. Her career began in public affairs with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Omaha Branch, developing community outreach programs and financial education initiatives.

At EHS, Megan serves as the Director of Annual Giving focused on growing support of the Roll Call. She and her husband live in Arlington and enjoy golfing, cooking and cheering on the Creighton basketball teams.

Charlotte Cusano ’11

Assistant Director of Development Communications

Born in Manhattan and raised in New Vernon, New Jersey, La Anna, Pennsylvania, and New York City, Charlotte graduated from Episcopal High School in 2011. She attended Sewanee: The University of the South before earning a bachelor's degree in English and American literature from New York University, with minors in creative writing and the business of entertainment, media, and technology. She later earned a master's degree in creative writing from New York University.

Charlotte brings deep publishing and communications expertise to Episcopal, having spent five years on the managing editorial and editorial production teams at Highlights for Children. She subsequently worked as an independent editorial contractor for Highlights, Frog Street Press, and several other prominent educational publishers. Charlotte recently relocated to Washington, D.C., from Charleston, South Carolina, to return to Episcopal's campus as the Assistant Director of Development Communications.

Leah Daniels

Associate Director of Communications

Leah joins EHS after managing communications and marketing efforts across education, media, and advocacy. Most recently, she served as Associate Director of Communications & Marketing at Holton-Arms School, where she managed publications like Doorways magazine, drove campaign strategy, and supported rebranding efforts. Her earlier experience includes overseeing web content, media relations, and social media for GW Law, TEGNA, and the American Association of University Women.

She holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism from The University of Alabama and lives in Alexandria, Virginia, and enjoys baking and cheering on the Crimson Tide.

Nina Moore ’20

Assistant Director of Communications for Digital Media

B.S., University of Maryland, College Park

Nina joined Episcopal after working at Capital One, where she managed projects within the technology organization. Seeking a more creative direction in her career, she transitioned to EHS to join the communications team.

At EHS, Nina serves as the Assistant Director of Communications for Digital Media, overseeing photography, videography, and social media. An alum of the School, she is originally from the Washington, D.C., area.

Sherri Watkins

Associate Director of Publications

B.A., University of Cincinnati

Sherri brings a range of publication production experience to Episcopal, having served as Director of Publications and Design at Bullis School for 15 years. Since 2023, she has consulted to copyedit, design, and produce university museums’ catalogs, as well as independent school magazines and nonprofit communications.

At EHS, Sherri's responsibilities include production of EHS The Magazine of Episcopal High School, Four Columns, From the Hill, and the annual report.
