Biography:
Molly is beginning her 27th year of full-time classroom teaching. She has taught at The Taft School, Charlotte Country Day School, and the Chinese International School in Hong Kong. In her work with schools, she has facilitated numerous workshops on inclusive excellence and cultural competency, coached several sports, and advised a variety of student and faculty groups from literary clubs to sustainability efforts to cultural awareness pursuits.
At Episcopal, Molly is the Chair of the English Department, a position that generates many opportunities for conversation and learning. She’s grateful for those opportunities, as well as for her time working with students in the classroom - her favorite role! She usually teaches 9th grade and three electives: American Protest Literature, Victorian Literature, and Writing Short Stories about Climate Change. Serving in the Office of Community and Equity allows her to work closely with colleagues by facilitating professional development and diversity and equity literacy. She is also a member of a dorm team and an advisor to an amazing group of students.
During the 2024-25 school year, Molly was the beneficiary of the Olsson Family Sabbatical. She and her family enjoyed a remarkable year in Granada, Spain, where she worked on a novel (in English), strengthened her Spanish through classes and volunteering, and relished the opportunity to get to know a new place with her husband and kids.
For 17 years, Molly, her partner, and their two children (the oldest a member of the Class of 2028) have called EHS home. As a family, they love to bike, hike and explore in the DMV, see plays and live music, and work for climate justice in Alexandria and the surrounding region. They can often be found on evening family walks around campus or reading on their porch.
