Biography:
In addition to his role on the senior administrative team as Director of the Office of Community and Equity, Louis teaches one upper-level English course per semester (Voices of the Harlem Renaissance in the fall and Nonfiction Writing in the spring), and coaches indoor track.  He also serves as faculty advisor to Spectrum, a student group focused on building community across differences, and sponsors the Multi- and Bi-racial Students’ Affinity space. Louis’s work with the Board of Trustees includes various ad hoc committees and working groups, including his present work with the School History Working Group. Previously at EHS, Louis taught full time, coached football and lacrosse, and served as a faculty advisor to the Honor Committee.

After earning a B.A., Louis taught English and Art at The Brooks School in North Andover, Mass., then went on to law school before serving as a federal judicial law clerk and practicing as a litigator. His love of teaching drew him back to the classroom, first at D.C.’s Sidwell Friends School and then at Episcopal.

Louis loves playing and listening to music, exploring the outdoors, indulging in a thought-provoking read, making things, and writing.
