Two Late TDs Push Prep Past Maroon in Varsity Football

EHS suffered another tough loss yesterday afternoon to fall to 4-3. Georgetown Prep arrived to Hummel Bowl with a 5-2 record.
In the first half, EHS made key plays on defense to prevent Georgetown Prep from scoring despite moving the ball on the ground. Vincent Notzon ’18, John Pupel ’18, Ben Lee ’20, and Litchfield Ajavon ’19 were all disruptive against the Georgetown Prep rushing attack. Moreover, a blocked punt and interception by Salim Turner-Muhammad ’19 helped improve the field position for EHS. It led to the only score of the first half—a touchdown pass from Seth Agwunobi ’18 to Melvin Curbeam ’20.

The second half scoring opened with a 39-yard field goal by Paul Pivirotto ’19, putting EHS ahead 10-0, which proved to be the last points for the home team.

Unfortunate penalties and the bruising Georgetown Prep running game ultimately pushed the visitors down the field, giving them two 4th-quarter touchdowns for a final score of 14-10.

EHS closes its conference play with an away game at Landon School next Saturday. The winner of the game will in all likelihood earn a share of the IAC championship.
