Big Road Win at St. Albans

EHS arrived to St. Albans’ campus during their homecoming weekend and found their opponents energized by the buzz of the occasion.
St. Albans brought a strong intensity to the start of the game and showed a disciplined style of play from start-to-finish, which required the Episcopal squad to play a focused and fundamentally sound game to come out on top.

From an overall game standpoint, EHS only ran 35 offensive plays while St. Albans ran 71 plays. Still, EHS managed to have about a hundred more total yards than their opponents. Much of the scoring came on explosive plays from the EHS offense, including four touchdown runs from Perris Jones '18. Jones finished the game with 240 yards rushing on only 13 carries. Quarterback Seth Agwunobi ’18 also ran for a score and finished with 67 yards on 7 carries. Agwunobi added two touchdown passes to Sergio Portobanco ’18.

As mentioned above, the defense was on the field for the bulk of the game and managed to surrender only two scores. Earning key experience playing on the defensive line were Shane Ayotte ’21 and Max Meyer ’20—both players made their first career sacks at the varsity level. Ben Chombe ’18 did an exceptional job covering the St. Albans receivers all afternoon making crucial pass breakups. Vincent Notzon ’18 and Litchfield Ajavon ’19 were once again defensive leaders.

Ricky Miezan ’18 handled the punting and kicking duties while Paul Pivirotto ‘19 was 7-for-7 on extra points and also made a tackle on the final kickoff.

The final score was Episcopal 51 and St. Albans 13.
