New Faculty Join EHS Community

This year, EHS welcomes five new faculty members to varying departments on campus.
ADMINISTRATION
Earlier this year, Head of School Charley Stillwell announced the appointment of Doug Dickson as the Assistant Head for Student Life. Dickson was previously the Upper School Head at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas. Read the announcement here.

TEACHING FACULTY
The Rev. Timothy Seamans comes to Episcopal as the Assistant Chaplain. He teaches theology, assists in the chapel program, coordinates the service learning program, coaches the junior varsity girls’ basketball team, and is a member of the Hummel dorm team. Rev. Seamans was ordained as a priest in the Diocese of Atlanta, where he was most recently the chaplain at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School. He is also involved in the Episcopal Church’s wider ministry of racial healing and reconciliation, and currently serves on the Presiding Bishop’s Executive Council Committee on Anti-Racism.

Spanish teacher Parker Benedict’s boarding school experience began as a student at Garrison Forest School in Maryland. She comes to Episcopal with three years at The Hill School as a teacher, new faculty mentor, squash and lacrosse coach, and dorm parent. Benedict has spent the past four summers working in Costa Rica to further immerse herself in the Spanish language. At EHS, Ms. Benedict teaches Spanish, coaches squash and lacrosse, and is on the Dalrymple dorm team.
ADMISSIONS
Jonathan Lee ’01 returned to EHS this year as the Assistant Director of Admissions. As a student on the Holy Hill, he served as a Senior Monitor and was a member of the Honor Committee; an All-IAC basketball, cross country and track athlete as a captain; and All-State as a cross country runner. In addition to his Admissions role, Lee is a 9th grade advisor, assistant coach for boys’ varsity basketball, assistant coach for the cross country team, and a member of the Hummel dorm team.

“I am extremely excited to help out my 9th grade advisees with their adjustment to EHS. I have been right in their shoes and certainly can remember their nervousness and excitement!” Lee said.

Alex Smith joins Episcopal as an Assistant Director of Admissions and head coach for the girls’ varsity field hockey team. She is also a member of the Evans dorm team. Smith comes from a background of marketing and communications and is looking forward to experiencing the many traditions that unite The High School.

“The school community is passionate about making EHS a positive and dynamic place,” she said.
