2017-18 School Year Kicks Off

On Saturday, August 19, Episcopal’s varsity football team returned to campus, the first students to arrive for the 2017-18 school year.
They were followed on Sunday, August 27, by the rest of the School’s preseason athletes, as well as student leaders who returned early for a week of leadership training.

International students returned on Sunday, September 3, for international student orientation, and were joined by the remainder of their classmates the next day, with all new and returning students arriving for registration on Monday, September 4.

A welcome assembly in Callaway Chapel, meetings with grade deans, orientation games, a student life fair, a reception with the Equity & Inclusion team, seated dinner with advisories, a vespers service, and ice cream parties by grade provided students and their families with many opportunities to spend time with each other and with Episcopal’s faculty during their first day on campus.

On the following day — the last day before the start of classes — students continued to settle into their School lives, with a presentation from the Honor Committee and all-student signing of the Honor Code, a session introducing major School rules, an introduction to afternoon options, classroom tours from Monitors, a new student technology session, a college counseling meeting for seniors, and more. The day culminated with advisory dinners in advisors’ homes or off-campus.
