Maroon Victor, Baltimore Latin

After three weeks of preseason, the EHS football team was eager to take the field against an opponent in a game situation.  Boys’ Latin entered the game 1-0 after defeating a rival Baltimore school in the weekend prior. The contest began with a number of unforced errors from both teams resulting in an extraordinarily long first quarter. The ball was exchanged a number of times before EHS rounded out the first quarter with a 15 yard touchdown by Seth Agwunobi ’18.

The second quarter featured effective defensive sequences from EHS led by strong play from the front seven. Consequently, the field position battle was won by Episcopal, resulting in two more touchdowns and a safety as EHS went into halftime with a 23-0 lead. In sum, the first half was riddled by early-season mistakes and was the focal point of the halftime corrections.

EHS started with the ball at the outset of the third quarter and had their most sound drive of the afternoon. The drive included solid running from Perris Jones ’18 and was capped off by an 18 yard touchdown run by Litchfield Ajavon ’19, bringing the score to 30-0. EHS finished its scoring on a 46 yard touchdown reception by Elijah Gaines ’20 toward the close of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter had more balanced play as Boys’ Latin began to move the football and scored two touchdowns. EHS was led by its defensive effort, including a number of stops by seniors Vincent Notzon ’18 and John Pupel ’18.
