A Day at the Highest Court

Students in Stefanie Smith's Introduction to Constitutional Law class had the special and unforgettable opportunity to sit in on an oral argument at the Supreme Court on April 20.
They were waiting in line a good length of time while most of the EHS Community still dreamt of breakfast, as they hit the courthouse steps at roughly 4 a.m. and waited almost seven hours before learning they would gain admittance!

The opportunity also provided them the chance to witness an historical moment, as the hearing represented one of the first for newly-installed Judge Neil Gorsuch in his first week on the bench.

One picture is the group literally saying a prayer as they waited in line during the final minutes to see if they would indeed get tickets for the second oral argument ("We did!" says Ms. Smith). The second picture is all of the students on the steps of the Supreme Court.

"The students were awesome!" Ms. Smith noted about the experience. "It was so rewarding to see the students genuinely enjoy the experience and embrace the unique educational opportunity."
