Boys Varsity Basketball Ends Season 13-14

The boys' varsity basketball team ended their season on March 1 with a loss in the VISAA Quarterfinals against the #1 seed Paul VI Panthers. This game was a rematch of last year's Independent Schools Championship, which Episcopal won, but this year the Panthers were just too strong for the Maroon.

The previous night Episcopal was able to defeat cross-town foe Bishop Ireton in the first round of the VISAA Tournament by a score of 67-49. This win was important for Episcopal because the team had not played a game since February 16. Great practice sessions during the previous week helped the Maroon play well and prevail against the Cardinals.

Another highlight towards the end of the season was an awesome game against the IAC Champions, the Bullis School, here in Centennial Gymnasium. It was Senior Night for Episcopal, and the community did a great job of coming out to support the team. After four quarters of play, EHS and Bullis were tied, but in the extra session the Maroon were able to take a two-point lead against the Bulldogs, and one final possession of great defense allowed the home team to hold on for the win in front of an electric home crowd.

EHS finished the season with a record of 13-14, and all game results and statistics can be found here.

The coaching staff is very proud of the efforts of our entire team, and we would especially like to thank the nine seniors that helped guide us through the season: Whit Goode, Jared Young, Lachlan Warrell, Sen Kenneally, Evan Lyerly, Louis Tambue, Stuart Greenspon, Tench Coxe and George Mawanda-Kalema.
