Alumni and Parents Come Together for Episcopal's Inaugural Book Club Night

EHS Book Club Night gives alumni and parents an opportunity to connect with the School, its teachers, each other, and the kind of intellectual exploration that occurs daily on campus.
EHS parent Darryl Joyner, who attended the inaugural Book Club Night on January 26 in the Crosland Alumni Cottage, noted that "sitting together to share thoughts, opinions, and ideas around a common topic is a unique opportunity to build relationships and understanding among the Episcopal parent and alumni community."

English teacher, ninth grade dean, and varsity girls' squash coach Lucy Whittle Goldstein '97 led the discussion centered around "Behold the Dreamers," the debut novel by Imbolo Mbue. The novel, set in New York City, follows two families during the 2008 banking crisis. Jende Jonga is a Cameroonian immigrant who works for Clark Edwards, a Lehman Brothers executive. All characters are confronted with the tension between dreams and reality, as well as the pressures and demands of family.

Looking to offer fellowship opportunities both on- and off-campus that serve the EHS community's diverse affinities, Book Club Night is just the newest addition to Episcopal's event calendar. View a list of upcoming events for alumni and parents here.
