Girls Varsity Basketball Couldn't Keep Up With Panthers

We knew we would be facing one of the toughest and most defensive-minded teams in the state on Thursday. The Panthers wasted no time in establishing a sense of controlled chaos on the defensive end, forcing some early turnovers for the Maroon. Even so, EHS found themselves with a 12-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The team's impressive balance on the offensive end continued into the second. Episcopal moved the ball quite well, not letting themselves get trapped in the corners and taking advantage of weak side opportunities. At the half, EHS led by a narrow 21-17 margin.

That's when Potomac turned up their intensity several notches. EHS began making uncharacteristic turnovers and lost our flow on offense. The Panthers, conversely, hit big shots down the stretch to take and extend their lead. We had a myriad of fantastic looks at the rim throughout the second half, but we simply could not convert. Forced to foul and put the Panthers on the line in the closing minutes, Potomac was able to secure the 47-35 victory.
