Nine More Make College Athletic Commitments. Plus: City Sports Awards Announced

Nine members of the Class of 2019 announced their intention to continue their athletic careers in college, bringing to 28 the number of graduating seniors who will play at the next level.
These nine student-athletes celebrated their college commitments at a ceremony yesterday with friends, family, and coaches. They are:
 
  • Gracie Hughes, Sewanee: University of the South, tennis
  • Sam Kamara, Wofford College, track and field
  • Jacob Morgan, Gettysburg College, baseball
  • John Moses, University of Rochester, baseball
  • Cam Robinson, Mount St. Mary’s University, track and field
  • Asa Shannon, Columbia University, basketball
  • Gray Shiverick, Sewanee: University of the South, volleyball
  • Meron Tekeste, Dickinson College, soccer
  • Juanell Walker, Trinity College, football

Alexandria Sportsman’s Club Honors
Gray Shiverick '19 will be honored tonight as one of the city’s best high school athletes. At its annual dinner, the Alexandria Sportsman’s Club will award Gray and 14 others with $2,500 college scholarships.

Also honored at the club’s annual dinner will be nine other EHS athletes who have received “athlete of the year” awards in their respective sports. They are:

  • Alli Boehm ’20, girls’ track and field
  • Nicole Cariño ’19, squash
  • Gracie Guest ’19, climbing
  • Gracie Hughes ’19, tennis
