Maroon dominates Georgetown Vis

After two cancellations in a row, the match against Georgetown Visitation finally took place on a cold and cloudy day. The match went off without a hitch and the Episcopal High School team won 6-1.
Lilly Schmactneberger '19 the #1 singles player started the match and aced her opponent, 8-0. She completed her match swiftly and deftly with gorgeous strokes and excellent play. Lily Dolen '20 the #2 singles player found her rhythm early on and never looked back. Her backhand and forehand strokes had her opponent running, and she was able to pull out a strong win, 8-1. Nora Huffines '20 as the #3 singles player showed her opponent that she was a tough opponent winning easily 8-1. Finally, at the #4 singles spot, Lucy Williams '20 showed patience and persistence, winning 8-2 with a good strategy and solid strokes.

The #1 doubles team of Catherine Clark '21 and Cooper Redd '20 showed strength, patience and good teamwork and completed the match with a solid win 8-2. Eve Mazlish '21 and Lucy Peacock '21 worked as the #2 doubles to pull out a nicely played match, winning 8-1. Lijia Kjaernestead '22 and Schuyler Moore '21 struggled at the #3 doubles and were unable to capitalize on their opponent's weakness. They lost 5-8 in an otherwise well-played match. The exhibition match played by Minta Brice '21 and Caroline Davis '21 showed good resilience in a back and forth match to win 8-6. The doubles teams played with courage and tenacity.
