Varsity tennis narrowly misses Flint Hill

On an amazingly windy and cool day, the Maroon took on Flint Hill in an important Virginia state match. Flint Hill, ranked #7 compared to our #9 ranking, would be a tough test. It was a difficult day to play in the 20+ mph windy conditions, and we had to move our doubles lineups around due to captain Will Riddle’s absence, but even so we could see this would be a close one. EHS  won 3 out of the first 4 singles sets and split the doubles sets, but Flint Hill fought back to even things up in the final two matches and two singles, with Thomas Peacock '22 winning a difficult 6-3, 7-5 match, and Garrott Braswell '19 falling to his solid opponent at #2.

After receiving a forfeit at #3 doubles and getting a win from Harrison Green '20 and Charles Starks '21 at #2 doubles, the Maroon needed one more match to clinch the win, but Flint Hill fought back to take the third and final sets at #3 and #4 singles to secure the 4-3 win. A tough loss for the Maroon, but quite an exciting match.
