Track & field athlete brakes school record

The Maroon track & field squad are off to a solid start this season, doing the work and putting in some solid performances as they build towards the end of the season for the championship meets.
A small contingent kicked things off at the Carolyn Legard Relays, putting in some solid early performances as a benchmark for training and competing for the season. Highlights included a strong opening to the season for Zeddy Williams '21, who put in a 2:03 split in the 800m on the sprint medley relay, and Alex de Casteja '20 who ran his personal best time in the 400-meters (52.4). We also had some student-athletes who have been working hard in another event that is making a return to the Maroon squad.

Addie McElveen '21 and Hays Talley '21 have been eager to practice and compete in the pole vault event, and they were able to jump very well in their first competition last week at Hayfield High School, setting up for strong season of pole vault for the first time in a few decades for the Maroon. McElveen’s clearance of 7-6 is a new school record!
