Maroon JV Wins Season Opener Against Georgetown Day

The JV baseball team opened up their season on Wednesday with a 9-8 victory against a pesky Georgetown Day squad.
The Maroon jumped out to an early 3-1 lead after the first inning. However, Georgetown Day capitalized on some well-placed hits in the top of the third inning to take an 8-3 lead. EHS leveraged the relief pitching efforts of Jack Cay '22 and Piers Luscombe '22 to hold GDS scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Maroon used aggressive base running and well placed hits to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cay drove in Bradley Tarbutton '22 in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead and solidify the win for the Maroon. They team received solid defense play including plays by Edward Maybank '20, Joseph Notzon '20, Luscombe, Owen Krivacek '20, and John Laughlin '22. Charles Zheng '22 worked a critical walk during his first EHS at bat.
