Maroon Falls to High-Ranking Sidwell Friends

The Maroon hosted #1 Sidwell Friends—a team that is also ranked in the Washington Post.
Episcopal took an early lead off a Maya Thompson '20 jumper, but Sidwell responded with vigor. Using lightening quick outlet passes and excellent transition offense, the Quakers quickly proved why they are one of the most prolific teams in the DMV. The Maroon continued to fight, with exciting three-pointers coming from Mary Ives Giblin '19, Haley Sabol '20, Hannah Boone '22, and Dymin Gerow '20, and the squad was proud of how EHS stood toe-to-toe with this fantastic foe.

In the second half, Episcopal continued to pressure their opponent in the half court and found a slew of trapping opportunities to frustrate the Quakers. Lucy Dixon '21 and Catie Wood '19 hit back-to-back buckets to cut the deficit while Lily Arasaratnam '21 excelled on the defensive end in the fourth. Despite outscoring them in the second half, the home team could not overcome the deficit of the first 16 minutes and succumbed to the Quakers, 73-36.
