After Hard Fight, Saints Defeat Maroon for IAC Title

Episcopal faced St. Stephen's and St. Agnes for the IAC title.
The Saints were the #1 seed and clear favorite to win after a strong run through the IAC. regular season. Episcopal did a great job early in the game of attacking the Saints' pressure defense and making it hard on the home team on their offensive end of the floor. At the half, The Saints held a one-point advantage, 24-23.

The third quarter was a fun eight minutes of basketball for both teams, and the over-capacity crowd in attendance. Episcopal was able to erase the small halftime deficit to even up the score heading into the final eight minutes of IAC play at 45-45. Both teams battled through fatigue in the final quarter, and at one point the Saints led by 10 points. The Maroon continued to fight, and with just over a minute to play, EHS was only down 64-61. Following a timeout, the Maroon had a missed defensive assignment which allowed SSSAS to score an old-fashioned three-point play that EHS could not recover from. The final score was Saints 73, Maroon 67. Episcopal played a great game, but just came up short.

The team has won five of their last six games, and are now preparing for the Virginia Independent Schools State Tournament.
