Maroon Falls in Final Dual

In the final dual meet of the season, Episcopal lost to St. Albans by a narrow one-bout margin.
Missing three starters, the Maroon faced an uphill battle against a competitive Bulldog team. They got early momentum with wins in the first weight classes as Clay Sailor '21, Justin Yi '21, and Jay Kim '19 all lost to three of the better wrestlers on the St. Albans Roster. Victor Salcedo '22 got the Maroon on the board with a narrow 4-3 decision over an opponent who came at him until the final whistle.

At 138, Ray Kang '19 wrestled perhaps his best bout of the year, winning with a takedown in overtime over an opponent who had pinned him four days earlier. Nick Carosi '22 then got the first pin of the day at 1:56 in the first period. The Bulldogs got back the momentum and iced the win with falls in the next three weight classes over Hays Talley '21, Gilbert Amason '20, and Dylan Glenn. Episcopal answered with three first-period pins by Bear Matheson '20, William Smith '19, and Alex Manoogian '21—but without anyone to wrestle at 285, Episcopal was forced to forfeit the weight class, giving St. Albans six points and the dual meet victory.

Episcopal finished the season with a 10-7 record overall and 2-3 in the IAC. Ten dual meet victories represent the highest total since 2012!
