Squash Went Big, Came Home at Tournament's End

The fourth and final match of the squash tournament was played on Sunday afternoon against Squash Haven from New Haven.
Some of the girls saved their best for last. Lilly Schmachtenberger '19 started off with a 3-0 (6,5,9) win. Karla Domingues '20 had a really tight match, losing 10,10,9.

Mac Faughnan '19, in spite of a sweaty grip and a broken racket, and bolstered by the EHS boys varsity squash team's support, was NOT to be denied. She dropped one game on her way to a big W. Lilly Whitner's '19 nail-biting performances of the prior day so harrowed her coach that she promised—and delivered—to win in three!

Finally, the stage is set for the final show down: it's 3-3 in matches and the #1s are going at it.
Nicole Cariño '19 loses the first two games, then storms back to tie it up 2-2. The last game seesaws back and forth, with such a commendable effort on both players' parts. Cariño, in typical fashion, leaves it all on the court, but alas, loses 9-11 in the fifth and deciding game.
