JV Boys Bounce Back to Defeat Landon

Following a tough showing in the first game back against St. Stephens St. Agnes School, the Maroon returned to the court to take on league opponent Landon.
From the beginning of the game, the Maroon looked like a different team than the one that had shown up on the previous Tuesday. Though EHS looked a little rusty on offense—with many missed layups and free throws—the boys played hard on both ends of the floor. The Maroon held Landon to just five points in the first quarter; unfortunately, EHS managed to score just five points as well, so the teams moved into the second quarter locked 5-5. The Maroon were getting good shots around the basket, but lay-ups and shots in the paint simply weren’t falling. Collier Lilly ‘21 gave the Maroon the offensive boost that they needed by knocking down two 3-pointers. Those two buckets helped extend the EHS lead to 18-10 at the half.

In the second half, the shooting woes continued for the Maroon, but Charlie Jackson ’22 was able to get to the hoop and convert for 15 points in the second half. In addition to Jackson’s offensive efforts, James Greene ’21 also added 5 points as well, and EHS was able to pull away from the Bears. Because the Maroon played tough defense, they overcame the offensive difficulties that they faced to get back in the win column.
