JV Hoops Fall to Gators in Richmond

The girls JV basketball team was eager to awake early to travel down to Richmond for a highly anticipated bout with the St. Gertrude's Gators.
The action started right at tip-off when Minta Brice '21 received the ball and drove it in for a lay-up; first team on the board! The first was quickly followed by a second basket made by Lucy Hankins '22. It was clear that the game would be an even match. The girls on both sides fought fiercely. Flora French '21 nailed four free-throws on consecutive plays. There was merely a one-point difference at halftime.

The second half began with a beautiful back court steal and layup by Catherine McKinnon '21. Despite some powerful defense by Landon O'Malley '22,Lauren McAllister '22, Pem Pem Dorji '22, Elle Dorrian '22, and Hadley Applegate '22, the Gators had the momentum in the third quarter.

The High School didn't give up. Maya Taybron '22 hit a jumper from three-point-land to start the fourth. And, the bench and crowd went wild when Ta'Miyah Alexander '22 made her first basket of the season. The girls played as well as they have all season, yet ultimately fell to the Gators 51-28.
