Maroon Beats Bulldogs to Claim IAC Lead

The Maroon hosted the Bullis Bulldogs on for a key IAC early season duel.
Both teams entered the contest with a 2-1 IAC record, and the victor claims sole possession of second place in early league standings.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair that produced very good basketball from both teams. Although the Bulldogs held a 15-14 advantage after the first eight minutes, it was clearly an evenly played first period. Bullis was able to capitalize on some Maroon mistakes late in the second quarter, and this created a larger deficit for the home team as the buzzer sounded for intermission. Episcopal trailed Bullis 36-30 at the break.

The pace of the game picked-up in the third quarter, and each team was able to score the ball in transition. Episcopal cut in to the Bulldog lead, and the home team only trailed by three points entering the final eight minutes of play. Both teams combined to score 48 points in the fourth quarter, and it was an exciting brand of basketball for the players and fans. Fortunately, the Maroon made some winning plays down the stretch, and the team earned a hard-fought IAC victory. EHS won the game by a final score of 78-75. With the win, the Maroon improved to 9-5 on the season, and 3-1 in the IAC.
