Girls Track & Field Win Maroon & Black Relays

The annual Maroon & Black Relay saw some of Episcopal's top league rivals and some formidable State competition.
The girls team had a great day taking the team title over perennial power Georgetown Visitation. This team title was a true team effort with strong performances led by the young and up-and-coming student-athletes who saw their first action of the season or of their career.

The distance squad had some great debut’s led by Freshman Nelle Bashinsky '22, Thanos Androus '20, Liza Gregory '21, and Harrison Wise '21 in the 800-meter distance. Missy Brandt '21, Edward Powers '21, James Dixon '19, and Chris Denning '19 had strong personal record times over 800-meters.
A strong group of sprinters had a remarkable debut for the Maroon. Ethan Yip '21 put up some top performances in the long jump, 55-meters and 4 x 200-meter relay. Drew Friedman '21 stepped up to the A squad for the 4 x 200-meter and had an impressive and reliable performance. Seni Joseph '22 stepped in at the last minute as well and ran an impressive race passing the entire field on his leg of the 4 x 200-meter relay. As a sophomore, Regan Simmons '21 continues to be a reliable leader on and off the track, putting in some gritty performances in the 4 x 200-meter and 4 x 400-meter relay. She continues to be the versatile unsung leader and teammate. Nina Moore '20 made her debut in the 400-meters and she looks forward to faster times as the Maroon prepares to have a large representation at the State Championships relays in a few weeks.

Finally, even though they competed first, the boys shot put crew continue to inch farther and farther down the sector as new junior Jeff Stallings '20 broke the 40-foot barrier to take first place in the event, followed by second place Parker Jenkins '20. Completing the 1-2-3 sweep was Leo McCray '19, who hurled a shot put, setting his own personal record.
