Boys Varsity Squash Falls to St. Paul's (MD)

The boys varsity squash team hosted St. Paul's School (MD) on Saturday, without much turnaround time from defeating Woodberry the day before. The Crusaders have a history of experience and depth, but the Maroon was up to the challenge.
The Order of Play was similar to the previous day (Odds first, then Evens), but the level of play and pressure points were different. For starters, Case Sylvester '21 opened up the first round with a solid 3-1 win, and he put EHS on the board as the singular "1" to the SPS "3." Undeterred by the narrow path to victory, the Maroon continued to fight. Hansen Ogden '22 inched Episcopal another point closer in the win column with his dynamic, clinical, and Mand-of-the-Match play, but his would be the only "W" for the home team in the second round. Thomas Williamson '19 finished the day with another patented 3-0 win against the St. Paul's #1, but that is as close as EHS would reach in this interscholastic contest.

While the overall 3-6 loss to SPS looks lop-sided, a closer evaluation shows that EHS was one game and a couple points from winning the entire match; this is little solace in the immediate aftermath of the defeat, but it should encourage and motivate the boys as they work through the rest of the season.
