  • When you first arrived at Episcopal, how long did it take for you to feel like a part of the community?

    “I bonded with my fellow freshman peers almost instantly. Between all of the orientation activities, the 9th-grade Burch Outdoor Program, and just normal weekend activities, it was basically impossible to not make friends.” – Rachel Vadhan ’14
  • What has helped make EHS your home?

    “The students aren’t your friends; they are your family, and you love them with all your heart. We fight like family, but we also care like family. If someone has a birthday or is down, we come together to celebrate or to console as soon as possible.” – Sophie Holt ’15
  • What kinds of activities do dorm-mates do together?

    “Dorm-mates do a lot of things together! Starting with the dorm games during the first weekend of the year, there are many school-sponsored dorm-wide activities. Some examples include movie nights, ping pong tournaments, or even donut-eating competitions. Outside of these planned activities, you can do so much with your friends on and off dorm. The sky is the limit.” – Ben Arp ‘15
  • How are roommates matched?

    “Once you’re admitted to EHS you’ll fill out a questionnaire and get paired with someone based on your answers. At the end of freshman year, you get to choose your roommate for sophomore year.” – Ben Arp ‘15
  • Who supervises dorm life?

    “Each floor has a resident faculty dorm head. It may seem a little strange at first to have teachers on dorm with you, but very quickly they become an essential part of your dorm life. They are lots of fun to have around after sign-in but can also be very helpful during study hall if you have homework questions.” – Ben Arp ‘15
  • What exactly is seated lunch?

    “Seated lunch is when you sit down to eat at an assigned table with your advisory or people you might not know. It is a way to bring our community closer and get people talking. The key is to talk. Crack a joke or tell a story about your day. Time flies when you're having fun.” – Sophie Holt ’15
  • How would you describe a typical week on the Hill?

    “It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s worth it in the end. We go to classes, then sports, and after sports you have free time until study hall. During that free time people usually hang out with friends outside, watch movies, order dinner, go to the dining hall, etc. In the spring this free time becomes especially delightful; we call the School ‘Camp Episcopal’ because the weather is nice and people are always outside.” – Sophie Holt ’15
  • What happens on the weekends?

    “Typically, my friends and I either go shopping in Georgetown, catch a movie, go out to restaurants, or participate in on-campus school activities. Some of these on-campus activities include coffee house, DJ shows, plays, and sports events. The weekend is a time to relax, but also to do work at a more leisurely pace.” – Rachel Vadhan ’14
  • How do EHS students get off campus?

    “It’s common to take a taxi, but students also walk, bike or metro to their destination. On the weekends,EHS runs shuttles to places like the movie theater or to Pentagon City (our local mall).” – Ben Arp ‘15
