Rocio Mendizabal

Departments and Positions:
Modern and Classical Languages Teacher
School Extension 4151
A native of Spain, Rocío began teaching Spanish in 1988, first at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and then at North Cross School in Roanoke, Va., before coming to Episcopal.

Rocío believes that “teaching is the opportunity to tap into a student’s potential – to open their eyes to something new. It may or may not be their subject of interest, but as a teacher, to be passionate about a subject, any subject, at the very least sets an example for the student to explore their own passions.”

In the summer of 2017, she took part in a teacher's tour of Cuba with four of her EHS colleagues. Rocío has previously participated in a teacher exchange program with a school in Sevilla, Spain.

Rocío lives on campus with her husband Tim Rogers ’79 and has six children, including Alex ’04, Teo ’12, and Louie ’15.
