Health and safety: We will follow state health and safety guidelines. We will have fewer guests than in previous years, and though Virginia will lift social distancing requirements by May 28, we will add extra space between chairs. Also, we will set aside seats for guests who would like to attend events with increased social distance.
We ask that guests not to come to campus if, in the past 14 days, they or anyone in their household have:
—tested positive for Covid-19.
—been asked to isolate or quarantine.
Similarly, we ask that guests not come to campus if they or anyone in their household is:
—awaiting Covid-19 test results.
—experiencing symptoms consistent with Covid-19. Severe weather
: Ceremonies will be held outside if at all possible, so please bring attire to protect against light rain. In the case of severe weather, we will move events to New Centennial Gym in the Hershey Athletics Center; students and guests will be notified and a notice will be posted on the Commencement webpage.Cicadas
: As you may know, Brood X cicadas are emerging this spring on campus and in the surrounding region. The noise and disruptions could force us to move events indoors. Again, students and guests will be notified, and a notice will be posted on the Commencement webpage.
Student guests: EHS students who are invited guests or siblings of seniors may attend Commencement events. They are, however, expected to move out of dorm and leave campus by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28. Only seniors will spend Friday night on dorm.
Dorm Move-out: Seniors will pack their rooms during the week before Commencement and be expected to move out following Commencement. All students must leave campus by 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 29; details on the move-out procedures will be forthcoming.
