The Costa Rica tropical research opportunity is a trip that coordinates with Seeds for Change, a nonprofit, and involves a multifaceted research immersion program. Seeds for Change catapults its students directly into a research discovery process that is coordinated directly with renowned university professors. This program deeply engages students in tropical field research, ecology, marine research, and microbial bioinformatics.
Students will travel by plane to Liberia and then travel by van to the research station at Finca La Anita deep in the tropical rain/cloud forest, nestled between the Rincon del la Vieja, Miravalles and Santa Maria volcanoes. Interspaced with the science, students will be introduced to the amazing biodiversity of Costa Rica and take part in many engaging activities, such as community service projects helping the people of Colonia Libertad and practicing one's Spanish-speaking skills. The program will end at the Pacific Coast monitoring sea turtles, stingrays and study ecology research at the Horizontes Experimental Forset Rearach station.
