Alumni, parents, and friends of EHS can get involved with the EHS community by volunteering for one of the positions listed below.
Advisory Council

Council Members
- Promote the interest and welfare of EHS.
- Serve as resources to the Board of Trustees, Headmaster, and Administration as they study and make recommendations concerning various aspects of School life and programs.
- As assigned, members of the Advisory Council may serve on selected committees of the Board of Trustees as non-voting members during the second year of their
two-year term.
Advisory Council Chairs/ Vice Chairs
- One EHS graduate and one parent of a current EHS student and their spouses are appointed by the Headmaster to serve as chairs and vice chairs for the Advisory Council.
- These two positions will alternate between an alumnus/a and a parent at the end of each School year.
- The chairs shape the activities of the Council and fulfill the duties that may be prescribed by the Board of Trustees and the Headmaster from time to time.
- Serve as ex-officio (non-voting) members of the EHS Board of Trustees during their term in office.
Class Notes
Class Correspondents
- Help keep their class connected to EHS and their class members.
- Collect and submit class notes for The High School magazine.
- Keep the Alumni and Development Office updated on addresses, phone numbers and e-mails.
Reunion
Reunion Chairs
- Work with the Reunion class committees and Alumni and Development staff to encourage classmates to attend their Reunion and participate in the Reunion Roll
Call gift.
- Help to identify class Reunion Committees.
- Assist in setting class goals for the Reunion attendance and for the class gift.
- Build enthusiasm and interest by contacting classmates by mail and/or e-mail. The Alumni and Development Office will provide draft letters and full support in this effort.
- Lead the class committees in making several telephone calls to selected classmates.
Reunion Class Committee Members
- Attend the June Reunion and participate in the class gift.
- Assist the Reunion Chair in building enthusiasm and interest for the June Reunion.
- Notify the Alumni and Development Office of any address or phone number changes, job changes, e-mail changes or lost alumni.
- Call assigned classmates during the year to encourage them to attend the June Reunion to make a Roll Call gift.
Class Chairs
- Provide class leadership and generate support for the EHS Roll Call.
- Assist in setting class goals for the Roll Call class gift.
- Notify the Alumni and Development Office of any address/phone number changes, job changes, e-mail changes or lost alumni.
- Encourage classmates' attendance at alumni regional events and Reunions.
- Thank classmates for their support.
Roll Call
Roll Call Chair
- Assists the Development staff with the School's Roll Call.
- Supports the Roll Call with a significant leadership gift.
- Identifies and solicits key Roll Call prospects.
- Provides encouragement and support to Roll Call volunteers.
- Assists in setting Roll Call goals.
- Edits periodic solicitation letters to various constituencies.
- Presides over the Roll Call Executive Committee, an advisory board that meets twice annually. The term of service is one year and is renewable.
Leadership Gift Committee Chairs
- Preside over the following giving levels: Pendleton Club ($1,000+), 1839 Society ($1,839+), High List ($2,500+), and Randolph Fairfax Society ($5,000+).
- Require a personal approach, knowledge of the School, and solid stewardship practices to generate increased support for the Roll Call.
- Promote the importance of leadership gifts, $1,000 or more, as they account for more than 70 percent of funds raised each year from alumni, family and friends.
Senior Parent Roll Call Chair
- Supports the project with a leadership gift.
- Identifies and solicits the Senior Parent Gift Committee members.
- Helps with the approval of the naming opportunity selected from the School's Master Plan.
- Provides assistance in setting Senior Parent Gift goals.
- Encourages Senior Parent Gift Committee members efforts.
Class Parent Roll Call Committee Members
- Support the project with leadership gifts.
- Generate enthusiasm for the naming opportunity selected from the School's Master Plan.
- Call on six to ten assigned parents to join in support of the Senior Parent Gift.
