Roll Call FAQ

FAQ

Q

What is the Roll Call?

A

The Roll Call is Episcopal High School’s annual fund. Roll Call giving provides for the School's most immediate operating expenses. Roll Call gifts provide approximately $6,000 of support per student, helping to offset tuition costs to families and ensuring that EHS offers the highest quality boarding school experience to its students.

Q

How does my Roll Call gift support EHS?

A

Gifts to the Roll Call support the current needs of Episcopal. Each year the Roll Call provides for approximately 13 percent of the School's operating budget. Your gift will help pay for faculty salaries, supplies for classrooms, books for the library, equipment for the athletic teams, heat for the dorms and many other important needs of the School. Every day, The High School depends on the Roll Call and the Roll Call counts on the generosity of alumni, parents and friends.

Q

Does my Reunion gift count toward the Roll Call?

A

Yes. Alumni are asked to increase their Roll Call gifts during their Reunion year to honor the importance of the year. Each Reunion class organizes a committee of volunteers who assist in the solicitation of their classmates and plan for their Reunion Weekend. Due to the generous response of Reunion classes in recent years, the Reunion Roll Call has become a vital part of the success of the overall Roll Call.

Q

Does my Senior Parent gift count toward the Roll Call?

A

Yes. Senior Parent Roll Call gifts are counted as gifts to the Roll Call. The parents of the senior class are recognized for their generous Roll Call gifts with a naming opportunity recommended by the Headmaster each year. The gifts that are committed through the Senior Parent Roll Call are unrestricted gifts.

Q

When does the Roll Call end?

A

The Roll Call supports each School year. Our fiscal year begins on July 1 and closes on June 30.

Q

Does EHS accept credit cards?

A

Episcopal accepts MasterCard, Visa, and American Express. Use our secure online gift form or call the Development Office at 877-EHS-1839 to make your credit card gift. If you would like to spread out your gift over a number of installments, you may set up monthly credit card payments. Call for details.

Q

I can only afford to give a small gift. Will my gift make a difference?

A

Yes. Every donor is important to EHS. Your gift reaffirms a belief in the mission of Episcopal. Collectively, strong participation rates by such key constituents as alumni, parents and faculty influence grantors at foundations and corporations. Alumni participation regularly tops 50%, while more than 80% of parents give to the School. In recent years, EHS faculty and staff have established a tradition of 100% Roll Call participation!

Q

I have never made a gift of stock before. Is it complicated?

A

Making a gift of stock is usually as simple as making one phone call. The Development Office will provide you with instructions to share with your broker. Call the office at 877-EHS-1839 to ask for transfer instructions.

Q

Which gifts are listed in the Annual Report?

A

The online Annual Report lists all gifts to the School during each reporting year, July 1 to June 30. Roll Call gifts are listed by alumni class or constituency and by gift recognition societies. All capital and endowment gifts are listed together in one section within the Annual Report.

Q

Can I use my regular Roll Call gift as a memorial/honor gift?

A

Yes. Making a gift to the Roll Call is a meaningful way to pay tribute to a classmate, teacher, friend, or loved one. If you would like to designate your Roll Call gift as a memorial or honor gift, indicate the name of the designee when you send your gift to Episcopal. Your gift will be listed in The High School magazine and we will notify the honoree or his/her family.
