EHS vs. WFS: Join the Competition
April 29 - May 1, 2010
Golden Horseshoe Golf Club
Williamsburg, Va.
Overview
If you play golf and have a verifiable handicap (or 10 rounds of play with scorecards available), then you are eligible to participate in the Episcopal vs. Woodberry Alumni Challenge. The upcoming golf tournaments pit the skills of EHS alumni against those of WFS graduates. One of the goals of these events is to use the spirit of competition that both schools are known for to create an endowment supporting financial aid for deserving students with financial needs.
Scholarship Support and Fees
Over the past 11 years, Episcopal and Woodberry alumni have raised more than $500,000 of total scholarship endowment by participating in a friendly yet competitive Ryder Cup format golf tournament. Each player gives $1000 ($600 to the winning school and $400 to the losing school) beyond their annual Roll Call gift and pays approximately $8800 for lodging, 54 holes of golf, two dinners, beverages, and lunches.
Tournament Format
The format of the events includes a Thursday night dinner with pairing announcements for the Friday morning best ball matches and Friday afternoon modified alternate shot matches. Friday night there will be cocktails and dinner followed by another pairings announcement for the Saturday singles matches. Official tournament activities end with lunch on Saturday, but players are welcome to spend the night on Saturday evening as well.
Venue
The tournament will be held April 29 - May 1, 2010, at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club (gold course) in Williamsburg, Va.
