Athletics Hall of Fame

Episcopal High School will honor seven individuals and two teams with induction into the EHS Athletics Hall of Fame on November 13, 2009.  Like the forty-two Hall of Fame members who they will join, the 2009 class of inductees brought great acclaim to Episcopal High School, while representing EHS with the highest level of sportsmanship.

The individual honorees span nine decades of athletic excellence at Episcopal and include:

• John Hill Cronly 1912 (posthumous award);
• Charles William Kent Gamble ’50;
• Reginald E. Rutledge, Jr. ’51;
• Henry Plant Osborne III ’73;
• Joseph Elna Spruill ’79;
• Richard Leigh Beaver ’86; and
• Danielle Jeanetta O’Banion '97.

Danielle O’Banion is unable to attend the festivities due to a conflict with a game for her Memphis Tigers, where she is an assistant coach.

For the first time, two teams will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, as the undefeated football teams from 1947 and 1961 will be celebrated during the ceremony.  The Hall of Fame Ceremony will take place at a luncheon in Stewart Gym at noon on Friday, November 13.
